Learn to Curl

The Rideau Curling Club’s Learn to Curl Program is a great way for new players to learn the basics. Our program focuses on technique, rules, etiquette and of course, having fun! This is a great way to get introduced to the sport without committing to a regular league. But don’t be fooled, this sport isn’t as easy as it looks on TV.

The Learn to Curl program is a structured, weekly program that runs on Sunday mornings from 8:45AM to 11AM. The cost is $330 (plus tax) for a season, usually runs from October until the end of March. It is led by Patrick Gavigan, alongside a team of volunteer coaches with formal training.

Have you been watching curling on TV and thought I can do that?

Have you heard that curlers are pretty social? (Why yes, yes we are!)

Brooms, funny shoes and drinks bought by the winning team.

Why haven’t you signed up already?

After completing a year of Learn to Curl, some players graduate, join a team and head off to regular leagues in the club; while other players decide they’d like to take a victory lap and hone their skills. Whatever you choose, you can’t go wrong with the Learn to Curl Program at the Rideau Curling Club!

WHAT YOU'LL LEARN

We'll teach you things like when to yell HURRY HARD, SWEEP and GOTTA GO.

You'll learn what a TAKE OUT, HOGLINE and TAP are.

We'll set you up so you're ready to compete in a BONSPIEL and maybe even win a toaster!

Just wear warm, stretchy clothing and clean shoes. We'll provide the brooms, stabilizers and sliders!
